This is a big subject area, and includes sky, sand, water and architecture subjects, as well as action and events. Water in general adds interest to photographic images. Architectural images show the unique styles that can be found and the details that abound. Subjects range from the details up to grand scenic vistas.

Six of the monochrome images made use of a red #25 filter with Panatomic X film in bright sunlight, while others are Kodachrome 35 mm or Provia 6×4.5 images. The remaining images are digital.

Images originate from both coasts of the US. The lighthouses in both cases date from the late 19th century. You can see the impact of local building conditions (earthquakes) on the heights of the examples shown here. Immediately below is a an image of the Point Loma lighthouse in San Diego, and below that is an image of the Point Cabrillo light near Mendocino CA. Further down in the image gallery you will find two images of the Barnegat Lighthouse, on the Jersey shore, and at 172′ elevation, the second tallest in the US, designed to withstand hurricanes, not earthquakes.
